Last week I attended a Chinese New Year dinner hosted by my uncle and aunty in Inanam. There were heaps of food, drinks and gambling. There was also a surprised performance from SRJK Yick Nam, a school famous for producing world class lion dance performers.
It was raining and the steel poles that they were using in their performance was slippery and to me they were like death traps waiting to happen. The event started smoothly but things started to go wrong pretty soon. Watch the video for the whole story.
At the end of the gripping show, I found out the the head of the lion was an apprentice, the original performer was injured with a thigh injury from a previous performance. My aunt could hear the second performer (the second part of the lion) calming the apprentice before every jump. All in all it was a really good performance especially the parts where they defy death and continue on with the show. Very cool ESPECIALLY the one hand grab. That was amazing.
