Hi guys,

Christmas is just around the corner so I enlisted the help of my beautiful cousin Joyce and sister Ash to help me make a video to send out happy feelings and positive vibe out onto the world wide web. I hope you have a fun end of the year and may you be able to look forward to the New Year with eagerness and happiness.

We had some problems with the sound so the audio and video don’t match as we had to record it at separate times (but both on the same night). Bad acting and primo lip synching for the win!

Johnnie Walker- Black Circuit

Last Saturday I found myself tagging along with Eugenie to an invitations only event for Johnnie Walker in Kuala Lumpur (yes, I’m in Malaysia! More on that later). It was a free flow event and almost everyone was dressed in black and gold. So cool! There were ladies dressed in the Johnnie Walker attire walking around, being friendly and hospitable. The event only served whisky (I don’t like whisky, can’t stand it!) so it was quite a wasted event for me in that sense.

Personally, I felt that the event could have done with more people on the dance floor, supplied better performances and music/dj. Music was crap. Anyhoo, as they say it’s the company that makes the party and party we did (well as much as I could in 5 inch heels). I manage to rub shoulders with some of the Malaysian media as well as a few Miss Malaysia Universe contestants (yeah!) I whipped out my camera like a giddy school girl on an exciting school trip. Like all school trips it had its high and low moments.

I was introduced to Jeremy from Red FM who is a pretty cool chap. Totally helps that he looks like a Kpop trainee.

Oh, before I go, I must tell you this story. I was sitting on a couch resting my poor aching feet ( I bought 5 inch heels for this party, oh the pain!). I was just sitting there minding my own business when this woman sitting on the other couch on my left leans over to the side (facing me) and starts puking her face out. I’m like @_@… so tidak classy oi! Puhleasseee LADIES! If your gonna drink in a club, looking all glam and shit don’t ruin that image of yours and other women all over the world by puking your guts out in public! Do it in the toilet and if you can’t hold it in, do it in the bushes if you must, for goodness sake!

Far out, if you can’t drink, then don’t.

Runway show -Midnight Sonata

I was invited to Grace’s graduation runway show and was glad I went as I got to see so many good designs. I forgot to bring my camera so couldn’t take much photos but I do have a short video from the event. Grace collection was titled ‘Midnight Sonata’.

I just want to put it out there, that beauty can only last so long, sometimes a person has to stop trying to be aesthetically beautiful to people who don’t matter and start trying to be a decent human being. A person who cares more about other people then how much she weighs when she steps on the scales, a person who tries to improve herself with continuous learning and being able to think outside the box and live outside her comfort zone.

When I was younger I was pretty, was of the accepted weight, height, hair and attitude. Now I’m heavier, older, ruder and in a much better place and with God’s grace and hard work I’ll be in an even better place in my mind, body and career.

Lazy Sunday in November

MOH is out fishing and I’m just chilling at home with some gospel songs floating out from my laptop. Weather was nice and warm in the morning and I decided to do the laundry and then it started raining -_-. I have had to adapt and behold, indoor laundry drying attempt!

Nothing on TV, (Yes! After 9 years of living in New Zealand I finally have TV!) After watching re-runs of Wedding wars (which is crap btw) I decided to look through my photos on my phone. From the month of July till now:

Got into trouble with two good friends for skipping a wedding and organizing MOH birthday instead. As you can see it was a simple dinner with friends. I wasn’t feeling well so we had to cut the festivities short.

Memory Lane: One of my more embarassing moments

Let me tell you a funny story that happened to me when I was 20 years old. So, I was back in Malaysia for the summer holidays. At that time I was in my second year of University and manage to score a free flight from the parental units. We stop by KL as my dad had some business there and on the second night in KL we were told that we were invited to a dinner with dads numero uno man, the big kahuna, the big boss, the boss of all bosses… sorry, I got carried away. *cough

Jadi, we went to dinner at this super posh place and I wore a sun dress which fit me like a glove when I was 18 but I had gained weight when I was in Auckland and was roughly about 5kg heavier and it did not look good in that dress. I think the perfect description would be that I look like a stuffed turkey. When my father saw what I wore all he did was shake his head and smirked! This is my parent ok! The love of my life, smirking, thanks for the vote of confidence dad! So we went to dinner at this posh place and instead of walls the VIP area was enclosed in wall to wall wine racks filled with expensive wine. I think, if I remember correctly it was about half a million dollars worth of wine in that one room. I was gob smacked! Super jakun.

We sat down for dinner and for all I know the food could have been wonderful but to me everything tasted like saw dust. I hadn’t realise it was to be such a formal dinner and there I was dressed like a stuffed turkey. Worse! It was an impromptu matchmaking dinner. I kid you not. The parents wanted to see how both me and the boss son would gel (not forgetting that both of us were seeing other people at that time). The big boss was lamenting that his sons’ current girlfriend was a five foot nothing (so mean, I tell you, as if height was an indication of intelligence or any positive attributes a person would have).

I found myself in an awkward situation but the son was very nice, cordial and polite with a very adorable upper crust British accent. He had the exclusive English boarding school boy aura exuding from his very pores. I wish I could say that I was equally as polished and eloquent that night but it would be a lie. I spilled wine on my 2 sizes too small dress, mumbled when spoken to and just had a very strong urge to get up and run away as fast as my Kadazan given calves could bring me.

The funny part was that the one time I manage to make intelligent conversation something terribly mortifying happened.

I said “Oh yes, well the world economy right now is doing quite well but I have read that it won’t be for very long, looking at the world expenditure….” I break off as I hear a tiny plop, I look down in horror to see my dress strap in the soupy dessert that I was forcing myself to eat.

Wonderful, just freaking ‘how could this happen to me right now can anything else go wrong???’ type of wonderful. The only blessing was that no one noticed and the son just politely looked away as I scooped my strap and cleaned up the mess. Thank God it was dessert and we were almost done. The minutes ticked by unbearably slow. If I had any questions on how purgatory would be like all was revealed that night while I waited for dinner to finish.

Years later, here I am in my office working away when I suddenly remembered that night, it was horrifying at that time but now it is just too funny

How not to hurt when other people call you names

Why aren’t they bothering others with the name calling? Is it because they are normal or is it because their not a threat or special enough to warrant the abuse? Once you can put it in your head that your abusers are afraid of the unknown and they call you names to weaken you, every encounter will only make you stronger. The words will no longer hurt and will instead validate your existence. There is only one you on this earth and YOU seem to affect so many people, rile their emotions up enough to take the energy to hurl abuse at you. Instead of feeling anger change your mindset and see it as power. Find a way to use this power to your advantage. Regardless of the reception to your existence on this God given earth, is warm or hostile if it invokes a reaction then your doing something right. To stir emotions in people without doing anything can be seen as a powerful tool instead of a weakness.

Stand tall, proud and proclaim who you are for all to see. You can’t change your circumstances of birth but you can change the way you live your life. If you want to stop hurting when people throw careless taunts your way, then one way is to see it as a challenge and rise above it and make a name for yourself in whatever way you see fit. But know that these insensitive people cannot help what they do, they do not see it as an ugly trait, and they do not see their acts as something to be ashamed off. When they call you names it makes them feel powerful and validates their existence. Take that away from them, take that power away by showing them you don’t care. Once they know they can’t hurt you, the power struggle begins and they start to question their existence instead of questioning yours. These people are only there to make you stronger and when all else fails turn around and walk away and pretend to be deaf. It always works for me.

All Blacks wins The Rugby World Cup 2011- Finally!

All Blacks/New Zealand have won the Rugby World Cup 2011!!!

The last time they achieved such a win was in 1987 which is a whopping 24 years ago!

What a great game to watch. Although, I had no doubt that the All Blacks were going to win, if I was any less confident of the team winning I would have been “shitting bricks” as Jason Lim had tweeted. The second half was full of suspense and edge of the seat drama. The French team were a joy to watch, their attack and defense were superb and made the All Blacks work for the win and it really made the win that much sweeter. It was such a tight game and I truly believed that the winner would be the team that wanted it the most. I felt that the All Blacks wanted it more then the French team for a myriad of reasons. Most obvious ones is that they are playing the finals on home ground with the support of millions of Kiwis. The need to win is felt by all and for 2 hours millions of Kiwis (plus those around the world) were in sync with each other willing their team to win and boy did they win it for the country.

It feels good to be in New Zealand watching history being made for this country.

After watching the game and the prize giving ceremony we went downtown and everyone was celebrating, hugging, kissing and having a jolly good time. Well, when I say everybody I meant everyone except for the French supporters. Here is a video of the crowd as we are walking down to downtown Auckland, crazyness!

What a fantastic feeling, I’m on such a buzz with a big smile on my face. I’m gonna have sweet dreams this morning.

Can you feel it? The thrum of excitement sweeping through the country?

The finals are this Sunday, All Blacks (New Zealand) versus Les Blues (France). I AM SO EXCITED!!! This will be the third time the All Black have reached the semi finals in the Rugby World Cup and hopefully they’ll take the cup this time round. Third time lucky, ya think?

Now there has been a question hovering in the air, “What if the AB’s lose…” I say to you “Oh ye of little faith”. If we have enough people wanting them to win with all our heart and soul, there is nothing that cannot be achieved, we just have to want this win more then the French. The energy we would share with one goal in mind is a powerful thing. This sort of energy and single mindedness have moved nations and caused revolutions. I can’t see why it can’t help us win one rugby game. What would be more fantastical then having the All Blacks win on their home ground during the World Cup?

The only answer I could think of that would surpass the All Blacks winning on Sunday is the eradication of world hunger. Yes, this game is THAT big.
